Which Do You Use More?

I find that I only learn something new on the computer if I am required to do so. This course has stretched me the most lately. I do remember the week before I took over the Computer Class at Carson I thought, "My God, what have I done?????" That first year all I could do was to keep 1/2 of a project ahead of the students. I am glad that I was still teaching Choir at the time and
only had 3 classes of Computer. I have always told my students that I am a 'life long' learner and learn something new about the Computer EVERY DAY......I have had many students teach me new aspects of a software and the very first time of printing the old Excel software in 1995, a 6th grader taught the class and I how to print. Otherwise, their projects would be still waiting to print.

Please share whether you use the computer for more 'social' uses (e-mail, blogging, etc.) or if you use it more for your job. Why?

July 20th I will answer the burning question of 'What is a Wiki?'

As much as I would like to say that I use my computer only for my “job” as a student, I think I use it evenly for social and academic uses. Its use depends on what classes I am taking. If my classes require papers and essays, then I will use my computer more directly for class. I also use it for additional information when I am unclear of something in class and cannot ask the teacher. While I am working, I normally have music and one form of instant messenging open either to talk to people in my class or for a quick chat during a study break.

Well, it all depends on what time of the year it is. From August to May I use my computer for school stuff (lesson planning and research). During the summer I rarely use it at all. I usually have my nose buried in a book!
